About Affordable Healthcare Oklahoma

Who we are, what we do, and how we're paid.

Why this site exists

Affordable Healthcare Oklahoma helps Oklahoma individuals and families who buy their own health plan understand the alternatives to insurance: direct primary care, health care sharing and discount plans. We explain how each works, what it costs and what it leaves out, so you can decide with the full picture.

The site was started by Graham Kerswell after years of working around healthcare administration and seeing how hard it is for ordinary families to understand what they're paying for. It's built around education rather than a sales script. Every page names its sources and the date its prices were checked.

What we do, and what we don't

  • We do: compare the full-year cost of the alternatives with your current situation, explain the written guidelines, and help you join if it fits.
  • We don't: sell, quote or recommend insurance. Affordable Healthcare Oklahoma is not an insurance agency and does not sell insurance. We help individuals and families explore alternatives to insurance, including direct primary care, health care sharing and discount plans.
  • We don't: give medical, legal or tax advice.

How we work

Limits first

We go through what an option won't do before we talk about what it costs. Most regret comes from surprises.

Sourced and dated

Prices and rules change. We show the date and the source so you know how current they are.

Honest referrals

If a Marketplace plan or SoonerCare fits you better, we'll say so and point you there.

Phone-first

We help families across Oklahoma by phone and video. We don't have an Oklahoma office and won't pretend to.

How we're paid

There's no cost to talk with us. We may be paid by some of the programs we recommend when someone joins. That doesn't change what we tell you about how they work. Our Referral Marketing Disclosure has the details.

Meet the person you'll talk to on our team page, or see where we help.

Ready to compare?

Tell us who needs care and what you pay now. We'll walk you through the options, including when insurance is the better fit.

Free, no obligation. Oklahoma households only.

Health care sharing
Health care sharing ministries are not insurance and are not regulated as insurance. Sharing of medical expenses is voluntary and not guaranteed. Review each organization's guidelines for details, limitations, and state-specific notices.

Oklahoma note
Under 36 O.S. § 110(11), the Oklahoma Insurance Department does not regulate health care sharing ministries and says it cannot provide consumer protections to their members. Disputes are settled with the ministry under its guidelines. Health care sharing is not Minimum Essential Coverage.

Direct primary care
Direct primary care is a membership with a primary care practice. Oklahoma's Health Care Empowerment Act (36 O.S. § 4604) lets patients pay providers directly and says care bought that way is not an offer of insurance. A DPC membership does not pay for specialists, hospital care or emergencies.

Discount plans
THIS PLAN IS NOT INSURANCE and is not intended to replace health insurance. Discount plans give you reduced fees at participating providers; they do not pay or reimburse providers. They are not ACA Qualified Health Plans.

How we're paid
We may receive compensation from some organizations we recommend. This does not change our evaluation of how they work. See our Referral Marketing Disclosure.

Not advice
This page is general information, not medical, legal, tax or financial advice. Prices are examples, not quotes; they depend on your household and can change. Affordable Healthcare Oklahoma is not an insurance agency and does not sell insurance. We help individuals and families explore alternatives to insurance, including direct primary care, health care sharing and discount plans.
