Complaints Policy

If something doesn't go the way you expected, we want to hear about it.

How to raise a concern

Call (405) 644-4299 or email contact@affordablehealthcareoklahoma.com. It helps to tell us your name and best contact, roughly when you spoke with us, what you expected and what happened, and what outcome you want. Please don't include medical details or account numbers. You'll never be penalized for complaining.

What happens next

  1. We acknowledge it within two business days, from a person, not an automated reply.
  2. We look into it, including our notes and the people involved.
  3. We respond in writing within ten business days with what we found and what we'll do. If it needs longer, we'll say why and when.
  4. We check back to confirm it's resolved.

If you're still not satisfied

Ask for the complaint to be escalated to Graham Kerswell, the founder, who will review it personally.

You can also contact outside agencies at any time; using this policy first isn't required:

  • The Oklahoma Insurance Department (consumer line 1-800-522-0071) for concerns about insurance companies and agents. Note that the Department does not regulate health care sharing ministries.
  • The Oklahoma Attorney General's Consumer Protection Unit

Concerns about a sharing program's or plan's decision should also be raised with that program, under its own appeal process.

Health care sharing
Health care sharing ministries are not insurance and are not regulated as insurance. Sharing of medical expenses is voluntary and not guaranteed. Review each organization's guidelines for details, limitations, and state-specific notices.

Oklahoma note
Under 36 O.S. § 110(11), the Oklahoma Insurance Department does not regulate health care sharing ministries and says it cannot provide consumer protections to their members. Disputes are settled with the ministry under its guidelines. Health care sharing is not Minimum Essential Coverage.

Direct primary care
Direct primary care is a membership with a primary care practice. Oklahoma's Health Care Empowerment Act (36 O.S. § 4604) lets patients pay providers directly and says care bought that way is not an offer of insurance. A DPC membership does not pay for specialists, hospital care or emergencies.

Discount plans
THIS PLAN IS NOT INSURANCE and is not intended to replace health insurance. Discount plans give you reduced fees at participating providers; they do not pay or reimburse providers. They are not ACA Qualified Health Plans.

How we're paid
We may receive compensation from some organizations we recommend. This does not change our evaluation of how they work. See our Referral Marketing Disclosure.

Not advice
This page is general information, not medical, legal, tax or financial advice. Prices are examples, not quotes; they depend on your household and can change. Affordable Healthcare Oklahoma is not an insurance agency and does not sell insurance. We help individuals and families explore alternatives to insurance, including direct primary care, health care sharing and discount plans.
